COVID-19 Update: April 29, 2020

34 new cases in BC (total: 2087; Δ 1.7%)
811 VCH (prev: 803; Δ 8; 1.0%; 38.9% of all)

Outbreaks and Deaths

24 outbreaks in LTC and Acute Care; Two additional where one person has tested positive and outbreak response is ongoing. Clayton Heights and Langley Lodge. Langley Lodge was previously declared over but now is back. 3 Acute Care; 252 residents and 152 staff. 13 Outbreaks declared over including Kootenays Street Village had no cases for the last two incubation periods.

50 people (up 4) tested positive at Superior Poultry in Coquitlam and 42 people (up 8) tested positive at United Poultry in Vancouver.

No change at Mission Correctional Facility – 120 including 108 inmates and 12 staff.

87 people were associated with dental conference.

All four people who passed away were seniors at long-term care homes.87 people were associated with dental conference.

Testing Strategy

Testing is available to anyone in the community who has symptoms, even if it’s really mild. It’s used for identification of clusters.

According to Bonnie Henry, testing the general population without symptoms is unhelpful and will create false positive and false negative.

We need to clean our hands regularly and make sure that we are not touching our face. Stay away from others if you’re sick.
